At the beginning of the year, I had the opportunity to visit a single gender school near by my community. I was blown away by the amazing staff and the students. The children looked liked they were engaged in learning and loving being there.
Recently, the news here did a news piece on the school. I thought I would share the link for your viewing. Click here to view the piece about single gender schools. Share any thoughts you have about this concept.

I have been saying FOR YEARS that middle school should be set up this way. It's easier for the teachers AND for the students. While I admit that it's good for girls and boys to learn to socialize appropriately together, I keenly recognize the differences and distractions that they can be, especially during the early puberty years. It seems as though Jr. High curriculum is "dummed down" to compensate for girl hormonal imbalances (and other reasons, too, but this is my main guess), when it would be a great time to channel that energy into something positive and amazing! ...Oh, and I'm sure it would be a lot less "drama" for the boys to deal with so they could focus on their studies as well, LOL.
Thanks Genevieve, I totally agree! We have to start this somewhere. I've been working on it with the principal at CJ and talking it up with teachers. It may take years to get something like this in place, but it would be worth the effort. Part of the battle is educating the public about the benefits of single gender schooling.
