Top It!

You need:
Deck of Cards (you can choose to keep face cards in or not)
Two or more players
Decide if you are going to make this an adding game or multiplying game.

Play:
Each player pulls a card from the deck. Then they pull a secondary card. Player will either multiply or add. Whoever has the biggest sum or product wins that round. The winner takes the cards.

Game is over when all the cards are gone. The player with the most cards in their pile is the winner.

More Ways to Play:
The player with the smaller sum or product is the winner.
Choose a face card to be a wild card. The player decides what number it needs to be to win the hand.
If you are playing with pre-algebra students, the first number could be positive and the second negative. Then you add or multiply and the player with the bigger number takes the cards.
If you are playing with young children learning values of numbers, then only deal one card at a time and the player with the larger number takes the card.

Make 10

You need:

Deck of cards without face cards. Ace is One.

Blank piece sheet of paper.

Play with a Partner. Work Together.

1. Deal 4 rows of 5 cards, with the numbers showing.

2. Player 1 finds two cards that make 10. Player 1 takes the cards and records the combination of 10.

3. Replace the missing cards with 2 cards from the deck.

4. Player 2 finds two cards that make 10. Player 2 takes the cards and records the combination of 10.

5. Replace missing cards.

6. Keep taking turns finding two cards that make 10 and recording.

7. The game is over when there are no more cards or there are no more cards that make 10.
